Gawar Phali / Cluster Beans are popular legumes known for their slender, elongated pods and nutritional value. Native to India, they thrive in warm climates and are widely cultivated for their tender pods, which are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Care Instructions for Sowing and Planting:

  • Sowing Time: Cluster Beans are best sown during the warm seasons, typically from late spring to early summer, when temperatures are consistently above 20°C (68°F).
  •  Soil Preparation:Choose well-draining, fertile soil with a pH range of 6.5 to 7.5. Ensure good organic content in the soil.
  • Sowing Depth and Spacing: Sow seeds 2-3 cm deep, spacing them about 10-15 cm apart in rows spaced 30-45 cm apart.
  • Watering: Cluster Beans require regular watering, especially during dry periods. Avoid waterlogging as it can lead to root rot.
  • Sunlight: Plant in a location that receives full sunlight for at least 6-8 hours a day.
  •  Support:Provide support if growing tall varieties to prevent them from falling over.
  •  Fertilization: Incorporate organic compost or well-decomposed manure before planting. Additional feeding with balanced fertilizers during growth can enhance yield.
  • Pest and Disease Control: Monitor for pests like aphids and whiteflies. Use organic pest control methods if necessary. Watch for fungal diseases in humid conditions and ensure good airflow around plants.
  •  Harvesting: Cluster Beans typically mature in about 60-70 days after sowing. Harvest pods when they are young and tender, about 10-12 cm long, for best flavor and texture.
